The first version of Flex has appeared in March 2004. Adobe has bought Macromedia in 2005 and since then Flash Player naturally supports Flex applications.
In February 2008, Adobe has released Flex 3 SDK under the open source Mozilla Public License, so that the Flex applications can be developed using any standard IDE.
Flex SDK includes also the set of user interface components, including buttons, lists, trees, grids, several text controls and containers for other elements. Other functions such as web services drag and drop, modal dialogues, animation effects, sub-application specific for countries, validation and other interaction.
